My name is Chanda Scobee, and I’m a junior at Morehead State University. I plan to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in English Education (8-12). I’m from the small town of Winchester, Ky, where I grew up on a farm in a family of 7. I was raised to love God, love others, and then myself.
I’m an extremely expressive person and art is my outlet. I love traveling, photography, painting, writing (especially poetry), and being outdoors. I sell art at the Craft Bizarre every December at MSU, and I’ve been published in MSU’s literary art magazine, Inscape. I actually just wrote and published a poetry book, called the beat. I recently opened an Etsy shop, so that I can sell my book and other art.
I started my first altered book my freshman year of college, and I finished it within the first semester. I had such an enjoyable experience doing it that I immediately began another one. I started this project with the hope that others can experience the freedom, relief, and release that I’ve experienced from this project myself. Healthy coping is a necessity, and even if this isn’t the outlet for you, it’s worth a shot so I hope you do consider trying it for yourself.
